FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date:  Sept. 14, 2010

LOGAN, Utah – The Social Media Club of Cache Valley (SMCCV) will be gathering tonight at Café Sabor to educate people about social media such as Facebook and Twitter. These meetings provide excellent networking opportunities with people who have experience with social media consulting.
The SMCCV is a non-profit organization that is very focused on helping people, the board members are all volunteers. Preston Parker, President of SMCCV, said that “most members are trying to promote themselves or their organizations … there tends to be a reason for why they want to learn about social media.” Not only people can benefit from the club, a lot of businesses in Cache Valley come to find out how to better promote themselves.

  1. I like how you started out saying they are meeting tonight at cafe sabor so the reader can immediately know about the event. You might want to make sure you say that anyone can attend, that way the reader will feel involved with the meeting and club. Good luck with the rest, it is looking great!

  3. Katie,
Good job writing your press release with the little time we had. Here are a few comments that I know you probably would have fixed if time would have permitted, but I will help you make your final paper wonderful.

Manually tighten up the address and contact info by deleating the spaces. The address has an extra space infront of Logan. I would replace “These meetings” with The meetings. The first sentence in the second paragraph is a run on sentence. There should be a period between “helping people” and “the board members.” Or find a way to revise it into one sentence. Capitolize the first word in a quote, so “Most members…” The “…” needs to be connected with organizations. I might tighten up the last part of the quote to make it truly a newsworthy quote.

Like I said, I know you would have fixed all these things if you had more time. Keep up the good work.

    Kayla
